A Workshop on the Formulation of National Mine Actions Strategy was opened here on July 6 under the presidency of H.E. Prak Sokhonn, Minister Attached to the Prime Minister and Vice President of the Cambodian Mine Action and Victim Assistance Authority.
In his opening remarks, H.E. Prak Sokhonn stressed that Cambodia needs to request a 10-year extension coupled with the decline in foreign assistance for mine action, the CMAA needs to immediately carry out some key initiatives, one of which is to formulate a comprehensive national mine action strategy in line with Cambodia’s current and future circumstance as well as capturing the essence of all existing strategies to ensure comprehensiveness of all cross-cutting areas in of mine action.
