US Ambassador to Cambodia Mrs Carol Rodley addresses the 2nd Opening Ceremony of Spokesperson Training for Cambodian Civil Officers here on July 13.
In her keynote address, the US diplomat said: As you know, any government’s relationship with the media is not always easy. This is true in the United States, in Cambodia and in all countries that respect free speech.
The reality is that public officials, private companies and the media need each other and that their relationship is mutually beneficial. The government needs the media to communicate with its people and the media needs the government to provide information which keeps the papers and television stations running. This information exchange allows both bodies – the government and the media – to fulfill their primary duty which is to serve and to inform, the people.
