The closing ceremony of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports’ annual conference





Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen presides over the closing ceremony of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports’ annual conference here on Wednesday.

In his closing remarks, Premier Techo Hun Sen highly praised the ministry for its enormous efforts in comprehensive and deep discussion on the works of education and put forth new goal for the new academic year to upgrade the quality of education aims at achieving the strategic education for all.

Cambodian Red Cross President Lok Chumteav Bun Rany Hun Sen cuts red ribbon inaugurating the new Koh Kong Provincial Red Cross Office Building on March 17.

On the occasion, Lok Chumteav Bun Rany Hun Sen made an appeal to all people not to discriminate the AIDS/HIV victims and asked the provincial authorities of all level to help disseminate as well as to fight all forms of human-trafficking activities.

An annual conference of Cambodian Ministry of Information




Cambodian Ministry of Information holds its annual conference here this morning under the presence of its Minister H.E. Khieu Kanharith and with the participation of representatives of the Ministry of Women’s Affairs, provincial and municipal information from across the country.

In his opening remarks, Information Minister H.E. Khieu Kanharith said in 2008, the ministry of information has tried its utmost than ever in strengthening and consolidation the broadcasting networks by equipped with additional basic technical equipments.

He added that there remained some negative points, but in general the broadcasting networks have better and smoothly operated in disseminating educational news and entertainments to Cambodian people nationwide, thus contributing to the news services in the Kingdom

An Exchange of Notes for Japan’s Overseas Development Aid Loan and Grant Aid to Cambodia




An Exchange of Notes for Japan’s Overseas Development Aid (ODA) Loan and Grant Aid to Cambodia between H.E. Deputy Prime Minister Hor Namhong, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and H.E. Katsuhiro Shinohara, Ambassador of Japan to Cambodia, was held here this morning under the high presence of Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen.

With a view to promoting the economic stabilization and development efforts of the Kingdom of Cambodia, the Government of Japan has decided to extend ODA Loan and Grant Aid to the Royal Government of Cambodia for the two following projects:

- A Loan of ¥3,513,000,000 for Niroth Water Supply Project.

- A Grant Aid of ¥548,000,000 the Project for Improvement of Equipment for Demining Activities ( PhaseV ).

Samdech Hun Sen meets with Minister of National Police of Vietnam



Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen meets here on Tuesday with a visiting H.E. Le Hong Anh, Minister of National Police of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

During the meeting, H.E. Le Hong Anh briefed Samdech Techo Hun Sen over his discussion and signing agreement with Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister Sar Kheng, Minister of Interior.

In reply, Premier Hun Sen thanked and appreciated on the fruitful cooperation between the two ministries of both countries and asked the two sides to further boost the ties of cooperation, particularly between provinces along the common borders

Minister of Economy and Finance made an inspection tour of a special economic zone in Svay Rieng provinc




Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance, accompanied by the ministry’s senior officials, made an inspection tour of a special economic zone in Svay Rieng province on March 15.

The special economic zone gives job opportunities to as many as 4,565 workers who worked in a footwear factory, a bicycle workshop, a screw and bolt-produced factory, a package material-produced factory and a garment factory

Samdech Hun Sen on Monday meets with minister of Industry and Commerce of Vietnam



Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen on Monday meets here with H.E. Vu Hoy Hoang, minister of Industry and Commerce of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

During the meeting, Vietnamese Minister briefed Cambodian leader over his participation as the co-chairman of the 2nd Cambodia-Vietnam Bilateral Trade Meeting here.

He added that the bilateral trade volume between Cambodia and Vietnam reached some 1.7 billion U.S. dollars in 2008, almost 10 times over the 180 million U.S. dollars in 2000, and both sides will strive to realize 2 billion U.S. dollars of bilateral trade volume in 2010.

In reply, Samdech Techo Hun Sen warmly welcomed the outcome of the above-said meeting and proposed both sides to continue their discussion and study other possibilities to further enhance the cooperation between the two countrie

The Royal Government of Cambodia awards medal to Project Advisor of JICA to Cambodia



Cambodian Undersecretary of State of Economy and Finance H.E. Nhean Leng confers medal here on March 16 to Mr. Yamashita Akira, Project Advisor of JICA to Cambodia, upon completion of his mission to Cambodia.

The Royal Government of Cambodia awarded medal to Mr. Yamashita Akira for his key role in Cambodia’s development and rehabilitation.

Samdech Chea Sim meets with out-going S. Korean Ambassador


Out-going S. Korean Ambassador Shin Hyun Suk pays a farewell visit to Senate President Samdech Akka Moha Pothisal Chea Sim here on March 11 at the end of his three-year diplomatic mission in Cambodia.

On the occasion, the Cambodian senate president praised the S.Korean ambassador for his diplomatic mission in the country, through which he said the ties of friendship and cooperation between the two nations were further promoted, hoping that S. Korea will encourage its investments for supporting Cambodia in the national development.

In reply, the S. Koran diplomat confirmed its government’s position on supporting Cambodia in all domains.

He also told the Cambodian senate president of S. Korean president’s state visit to Cambodia in the future.

2009 Cambodia Outlook Conference




Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen gives an address to the audience at 2009 Cambodia Outlook Conference held here on March 12, which was co-organized by the Development and Research Institute of Cambodia and ANZ Royal.

The forum was under the theme of “Cambodia and Global Economic Crisis, Impact, Responsive Policy and Action”.

In the conference, the Cambodian premier said he wished to find out an effective response to the global economic crisis in order to help the poor and venerable people in the Cambodian communities, mainly those who lost their jobs.
