A loan agreement here yesterday with the Asian Development Bank



Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance H.E. Keat Chhon signed a loan agreement here yesterday with the Asian Development Bank (ADB), represented by Mr. Kunio Senga, Director General of ADB’s Southeast Asia Department, for the supplementary funding of the railway rehabilitation project totaling US$ 63.5 million.

The agreement consisted of a US$ 42 million supplementary loan from ADB and US$ 21.5 million grant from the Australian Government through the Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID).

The workshop on launching the BFD-DGRV cooperative project implementation organized by Buddhism organization for Development held last week in Siem Reap province under the presidency of provincial deputy governor H.E Mao Vuthy.

The station was being built in 2007 and completed on 2009.

Cambodia Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen and his wife Loak Chumteav Bun Rany Hun Sen, Cambodian red Cross President accompanied by other government officials attend in the ceremony for friendship tie between the civil institutions with armed forces held in Phnom Penh on Feb. 24 with the participation of the representatives of military and police of Cambodia.

The friendship tie is established in purpose to promote for the implementation of the government’s national defense policy efficiently by keeping the relationship between armed forces and civil institutions as well as the taking part on resolving the difficulties for the armed forces and their families.

Samdech Hun Sen receives an Indonesian Delegation


Cambodia Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen receives a visiting Parliament Vice President of the Regional Counsel of the Republic of Indonesia, H.E Laode Ida during the meeting in Phnom Penh on Feb. 25.

In the occasion, H.E Laode Ida told Samdech Techo Hun Sen of his visiting purpose here is to indicate that Indonesia has considered Cambodia is an importance country for the friendship and relationship keeping and improving between the two countries.

In reply, Cambodian premier asked Indonesia to review the possibility on expanding the cooperation on the filed of economy such as investment. Regarding to the direct flights from Indonesia to Cambodia, they should be set up as fast as good.

Minister of Information’s Aim: All Cambodians Have Access to Information



An annual meeting to review the works made in the year 2009 and set an objective in 2010 of the Ministry of Information is been held for two-day here from yesterday, Feb. 25 to today under the presidency of its Minister, H.E Khieu Kanharith.

The meeting has set out the work activity plane for the ministry on the implementation the rectangle strategy of the royal Government of Cambodia stage-II and the plane of national development strategy 2009-2013 of the Ministry of Information.

In the occasion, 2o6 ministry’s outstanding officials were awarded the working medals.

Addressing the ceremony, Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen said “On behalf of the government and people of Cambodia, I would like to express my profound thanks to the government and people of Japan for providing the precious equipment to Cambodia”.

The demining equipment which totally worth US$ 5.5 millions including 488 landmine detectors, 44 deep-landmine detectors, spare parts for landmine clearance machines and a mobile maintenance workshop.

Information Minister H.E. Khieu Kanharith holds a working meeting here yesterday with representatives of 15 media clubs and associations of Cambodia with an aims to establish a Board of Cambodian Media Council.

On the occasion, the minister said the establishment of the Board of Cambodian Media Council is indicated that our journalists have united as well as provided more convenient to contact each other. Moreover, he said, it favorably facilitated in the selection of Cambodian journalists’ representative to participate at the ASEAN meetings.
