Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister H.E. Sok An, minister in charge of the Office of the Council of Ministers meets here on Oct. 8 with foreign diplomats from the United Kingdom, France, Germany, China, Sweden, Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines and Vietnam before leading a Cambodian delegation to join the 35th meeting of UNESCO to be held in Paris of France.
On the occasion, Ms. Ngo Thi Hoa, Advisor to Vietnam’s Embassy in Phnom Penh, said her government fully supports the Cambodian candidacy as a member of the World Heritage Committee, while the other diplomats recognized that Cambodia has enough qualifications for this membership, but they have to wait for their respective governments’ decision.
Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister H.E Sok An, minister in charge of the Office of the Council of Ministers accompanied by his wife and a group of delegates leaves Phnom Penh International Airport on Oct. 8 to join the UNESCO 35th General Conference, taking place in Paris of France.
At the airport, H.E Sok An told the media that this year, UNESCO General Conference will conduct the election to select the permanent members of the World Heritage Committee to replace 12 countries, which finish soon their mandate among 21 existing members from 168 countries as members of the International Convention for the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage.Cambodia is among 29 candidate countries for the election.
