His Majesty Preah Bath Preah Boromneath Norodom Sihamoni, King of the Kingdom of Cambodia is greeted by Cambodian Senate President Samdech Akka Moha T









The celebration of the Annual Royal Plowing Ceremony was held here on May 12 under the high patronage of His Majesty Preah Bath Preah Boromneath Norodom Sihamoni, King of the Kingdom of Cambodia with the participation of Cambodian Senate President Samdech Akka Moha Thomma Pothisal Chea Sim, Cambodian National Assembly President Samdech Akka Moha Ponhear Chakrei Heng Samrin, Buddhist monks, solders, police, people and foreign diplomats.

H.E Dith Monti, president of Cambodian Supreme Court guided the royal oxen and plough around the Veal Preah Meru open square, while his wife walked behind scattering seeds in the furrowed earth.

According to the tradition, the Royal Plowing ceremony is celebrated to predict the upcoming distribution of rainfall, thus rice harvesting in the country through the oxen’s appetite of paddy, corn, beans, grass, sesame, water, wine.

At the ceremony, the royal oxen eat corn and beans as an omen of good harvest for Cambodian farmers in this year as predicted by the Royal Palace’s astrologer
