CPV General Secretary Arrives in Cambodia

A top level delegation of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam led by H.E. Nong Duc Manh, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam arrives here this morning for a three-day official visit to Cambodia as guest of His Majesty Norodom Sihamoni, King of Cambodia.

H.E. Nong Duc Manh, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam accompanied by His Majesty Norodom Sihamoni, King of Cambodia, inspect the Royal Cambodian Guards of Honor at the Royal Palace in Phnom Penh during the official royal reception this morning.

His Majesty Norodom Sihamoni, King of Cambodia officially receives at the Royal Palace in Phnom Penh this morning a top level delegation of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam headed by H.E. Nong Duc Manh, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

A top level delegation of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam headed by H.E. Nong Duc Manh accompanied by Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister H.E. Tea Banh, minister of National Defense, lay wreaths at Phnom Penh’s Independence Monument this afternoon to pay tribute to the Cambodian fallen combatants who have sacrificed their flesh and blood for the cause of the national defense.

Following on the same afternoon, H.E. Nong Duc Manh also lays wreaths at Cambodian-Vietnamese Friendship Monument.

The Hun Sen-Haruhisa Handa National Scholarship-2009 to 500 students

Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen and his wife Lok Chumteav Bun Rany Hun Sen hand over the Hun Sen-Haruhisa Handa National Scholarship-2009 to 500 students during the Award Ceremony held here on Dec. 16.

On the occasion, Premier Techo Hun Sen encouraged the students to do their utmost in their study.

In response to the conditions that Thailand set to normalize the diplomatic relations with Cambodia, Prime Minister Hun Sen clarified that it will not be late for Cambodia to wait for the next Thai government to be voted in.

World Mate Pledges to Further Assist CRC

A Memorandum Of Understanding (MoU) between the Cambodian Red Cross and the World Mate was inked here Wednesday by Cambodian Red Cross President Lok Chumteav Bun Rany Hun Sen and World Mate President Dr. Haruhisa Handa.

Under the signed MOU, the World Mate will provide USD 3 million for a 10-year period to Cambodian Red Cross including USD 250,000 for clean water project and another USD 50,000 as non-interest loans annually to Cambodian landmine handicapped people and widows.

The project will be implemented from April 2010 to December 2019.

The Parliamentarians Workshop On Maternal Health

Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Lok Chumteav Men Som An presides over here this morning the Parliamentarians Workshop On Maternal Health organized by 8^th Commission of the National Assembly, CAPPD and supported by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).

Addressing the ceremony, Lok Chumteav Men Som An expressed her believe that all the trainees will broadly discuss and find out new key concept as well as recommendations aims at maximally reducing the maternal rate.

Information Minister H.E. Khieu Kanharith meets here this morning with Mr. Vincent Broset, representative of the Organization of Journalists Without Border.

On the occasion, H.E. Minister told the guests that the press freedom in Cambodia is more comprehensive than other countries in the region.

He also emphasized that even though the opposition parties are not allows to own the Radio stations, but they can subscribe the air time from commercial Radio stations.
