Deputy Prime Minister and Minister in charge of Council Ministers’ office Sok An tells reporters at Phnom Penh international airport on June 20 before leaving for attending the 33rd meeting of World Heritage Committee to be held in Spain on June 23 that what is odd this year is that Thai leaders who will participate in the meeting used to rebuke UNESCO for listing Preah Vihea Temple ruins as a World Heritage Site.
The gesture made by Thailand is not fair because UNESCO is a high body of the World Heritage, he said, adding that the listing of Preah Vihea Temple ruins as a World Heritage Site was approved by many countries.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister in charge of Council Ministers’ office Sok An and his wife were greeted by government officials before leaving for Spain.

H.E Hor Namhong: Cambodia welcomes Thailand militarily, diplomatically, internationally or through peaceful negotiations

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Hor Namhong tells reporters in a press conference at the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation on Saturday that Cambodia welcomes Thailand militarily, diplomatically, internationally or through peaceful negotiations.
The Cambodian deputy prime minister quoted the Thai side as saying that the UNESCO’s decision to register Preah Vihea temple in the world’s heritage committee is threatening Thailand in an attempt to solve the border problem. Therefore, he said, we don’t understand what (they) Thailand said, or all the words they said without considering, or knowing anything, or with causing a problem.
He said that Thai prime minister, deputy prime minister and foreign minister are using words of lack of thoughts on the matter of the belongs of Cambodia’s Preah Vihea temple and sending a threaten message to UNESCO before the meeting of World Heritage Committee to be held in Spain on June 23.
He said that Thai leader wanted to review about registering Preah Vihear temple with committee of World Heritage of UNESCO and also wanted to register jointly for Preah Vihear temple and land surrounding areas belongs to Cambodia not Thailand according to the verdict of World Court’s rule in 1962.
“It is big mistake and serious one that were created by Thai leaders, “he said, adding that they have spoken without thoughts.
“If they want to have armed conflicts for third time, we welcome, “he said, adding “today we have known that Thai command for second region put their troops on alert, our troops also is ready for fighting, but so far the situation there is calm.”
Moreover, he said, the border tension was caused by Thai side. We want to resolve the border issue peacefully and friendly. But our effort made no result.
Military tension has not occurred yet today, but tomorrow I do not know, he said, adding that Preah Vihea temple already registered as cultural and humanitarian matters for all people.
“We are ready to deal border issue with Thailand by using peaceful resolution, international law, military, or diplomatic ways, he said.

Samdech Hun Sen meets with a newly appointed UN Human Rights Rapporteur

Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen meets with a newly appointed UN Human Rights Rapporteur Mr. Surya P. Subedi in Phnom Penh on June 18.
In the meeting, Cambodian premier recommended Mr. Subedi to meet with Mr. Om Yin Teang, head of Cambodian government’s Human Rights Committee in order to seek for understanding on the UN Human Rights Office in Cambodia headed by Mr. Christophe Peschoux, who attempted to take Kaing Guek Eav, better known as Duch to Thailand and than to Belgium in 10 years ago. He also asked the UN Human Right envoy to take into consideration of what Mr. Peschoux had done before in Cambodia? He further said what kind of role does Human Rights Office to Cambodia when its own official attempted to bring Duch out of Cambodia. The Royal Government of Cambodia and the UN are judging KR leaders.

The graduation ceremony at Royal School of Administration

Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen presides over the graduation ceremony and hands over the certificates to trainees and open the new training course-2009 at Royal School of Administration in Phnom Penh on June 17.
On the occasion, Cambodian premier said anti-corruption law is about to be implemented after it has been debated for years. He added that we do not ignore to acknowledge the corruption, that’s why we are combating the corruption.

Samdech Hun Sen meets with ADB vice president

Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen meets with Mr. Lawrence Greexwood, ADB vice president in Phnom Penh on June 16.
In the meeting, Mr. Lawrence Greexwood told Cambodian premier that ADB has decided to increase some US$ 59.4 million in loan to Cambodia for a two-year period.
In reply, Cambodian premier thanked ADB for the new information as well as ADB’s participation in negotiation with TOLL Company over the privatization work on railway project in Cambodia.

Samdech Hun Sen warmly receives a delegation of the US-based Committee for Supporting the Monarch for Cambodia

Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen warmly receives at his Takhmao city residence in Kandal province on Tuesday a delegation of the US-based Committee for Supporting the Monarch for Cambodia led by its member Mr. Pang Soun.
On the occasion, Mr. Pang Soun told Cambodian premier that his committee supports the political trend of Cambodian premier and his committee will do all it can to protect the King’s and Prime Minister Hun Sen’s reputations.

The workshop on the Practices of Accounting Standards for Public Issuing Companies

Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister H.E Keat Chhon, Minister of Economy and Finance, addresses here on Tuesday the opening workshop on the Practices of Accounting Standards for Public Issuing Companies.
In his keynote addresses, Deputy Prime Minister Keat Chhon urged all the professional accountants and auditors to firmly conform to Accounting Standards and Auditors.
He also advised the Securities and Exchange Commission of Cambodia and the National Accounting Council to continue even closely collaboration in order to prepare the compulsory rule of implementing the Accounting Standards and Financial Reporting Standards for public issuing companies in Cambodia.
