A Korean-Cambodian Business Luncheon

Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen delivers a speech here this afternoon during a Korean-Cambodian Business Luncheon in honor of H.E. Mr. Lee Myung-bak, President of the Republic of Korea and Madam.

In his speech, Premier Techo Hun Sen said today I have a great honor and pleasure to warmly welcome Your Excellency Mr. Lee Myung-bak, Madam, the accompanied members of the delegation and Korean business community as well as other distinguished national and international guests in this occasion.

“First of all, on behalf of the Royal Government of Cambodia, I would like to highly value the State visit by Your Excellency to Cambodia this time. This visit has clearly demonstrated the much attention made by the Korean government for the ties of friendship and close cooperation between our two countries and peoples.

Your Excellency’s present and accompanied members here will bring about more achievements and successes in Cambodian social and economic development’s efforts through the continuing of further strengthen and consolidate the cooperation of all aspects. I would like to express my profound gratitude for the government and people of Korea for their continuing support and financial assistance to the Cambodia’s development.

I strongly believed that our cooperation will bring about more achievements for our two countries and peoples and the ties of Cambodian-Korean Friendship will be more and more firmed and durable.

In reply, President of the Republic of Korea Lee Myung-bak said “South Korea will share its development experience with all countries that strive to leap forward. We will especially share our experience with Cambodia and support its establishment of social infrastructure.”

“The complementary economies of South Korea and Cambodia will provide vast and unexplored areas of cooperation as long as the countries are willing to work together.”

He proposed the countries work to launch new cooperation projects in four areas – the agricultural, forestry, services and infrastructure sectors – in what he called a “rectangular cooperation” program.

The term comes from the Cambodian prime minister’s famous reform policy, which seeks to develop Cambodia based on growth, employment, equity and efficiency.

“I believe there are more than enough conditions for an expansion of cooperation between our two nations with the enactment of the (Korea-ASEAN) FTA and the strong will of their governments for economic cooperation.”

Samdech Heng Samrin meets with Ambassador of the Iran Islamic Republic

Cambodian National Assembly President Samdech Akka Moha Ponhear Chakrei Heng Samrin (right) meets here on Oct. 21 with Mr. Seyed Javadghavam Shahidi, Ambassador of the Iran Islamic Republic.

During the meeting, both sides have focused on the cooperation between the two countries Cambodia and Iran. Moreover, Samdech Heng Samrin also accepted the invitation from Iranian leaders to pay an official visit to Iran at any convenient time.

PM Stresses Cambodia-Thailand, CPP-Puea Thai Relationships

Former Thai prime minister and a key leader of Puea Thai Party Chavalit Yongchaiyuth paid a visit to Cambodia on Oct. 21 at the invitation of Cambodian Prime Minister and Deputy Chairman of the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen.

In the warm and cordial meeting between the two leaders at Samdech Techo Hun Sen’s residence in Takhmao town of Kandal province, both sides agreed to set up a permanent mechanism to communicate between CPP and Puea Thai.

After the meeting, a luncheon was organized under the presidency of Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen in honor of Mr. Chavalit Yongchaiyuth.

On the occasion, Mr. Chavalit Yongchaiyuth thanked Samdech Techo Hun Sen for his warm and sincere welcome towards his delegation and for his wise ideal about the Cambodian-Thai bilateral relations, particularly the CPP-Puea Thai relationship.

Samdech Hun Sen warmly receives Chancellor of Kanyang University of the Republic of Korea

Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen (right) warmly receives Dr. Kim Hi Soo, Chancellor of Kanyang University of the Republic of Korea at his residence in Takhmao city, Kandal province on Oct. 20.

On the occasion, Cambodian premier expressed thanks to Dr. Kim Hi Soo and his colleagues for their assistance project to build the Eye-Care Center in Cambodia.

He also recommended Dr. Kim to discuss with the Cambodia’s Ministry of Health to find a location in any hospital to build this center as soon as possible.

Cambodian Red Cross President meets with the International Federation Red Cross Delegate

The International Federation Red Cross Delegate to Cambodian Red Cross Mr. Vincent Tutang bids farewell to Cambodian Red Cross President Lok Chumteav Bun Rany Hun Sen in Phnom Penh on Tuesday, upon completion of his 15-month humanitarian mission to the Kingdom of Cambodia.

On the occasion, Lok Chumteav Bun Rany Hun Sen expressed thanks to Mr. Vincent Tutang for his fruitful and cooperative mission here.

Information Minister Meets Former Hungarian Policeman and Malaysian Film Producer

Cambodian Information Minister H.E Khieu Kanharith holds talks here on Oct. 20 with Mr. Thomas Magyar, retired Hungarian Policeman over Internet’s negative impacts on children.

On the occasion, Mr. Magyar said he had noted that criminals had used Internet to dupe children, for example to engage in sexual exploitation, and he had thus created an inter-governmental organization, in collaboration with other NGOs to exchange information related to the protection of children in using Internet.

In reply, Cambodian minister welcomed the proposal and he committed to inform the royal government of Cambodia about this idea.

He also recommended Mr. Magyer to discuss the matter with the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports.

Cambodian Information Minister H.E Khieu Kanharith meets here on Oct. 20 with Mr. Ju Lian Short, Director-General of GS Production of Malaysia, who came here to seek support from the royal government to make a film on Cambodia.

In reply, Cambodian minister welcomed the project, which, he said, will attract more foreign tourists to the Kingdom of Cambodia. He then advised the company to work with the Ministry of Tourism.

The inauguration ceremony of the office of Fishing and Water Hyacinth Handicraft Community in Siem Reap province

Siem Reap Provincial Governor H.E. Sou Phirin cuts red ribbon inaugurating the office of Fishing and Water Hyacinth Handicraft Community at Kampong Pluk commune, Prasat Bakong district, Siem Reap province on Oct. 16.

On the occasion, H.E. Sou Phirin distributed ADB grant aid including 600 water buckets, 13 sewing machines and other necessities to people at the community there.
