The Swear-In Ceremony of the New Preah Sihanouk Provincial Council

Cambodian Information Minister H.E Khieu Kanharith presides over the Swear-In Ceremony of the New Preah Sihanouk Provincial Council, Provincial and Deputy Provincial Governors, held in Sihanoukville, Preah Sihanouk province on June 1.

According to the Royal Decree signed by His Majesty King Norodom Sihamoni recently, H.E. So Chung Huor was elected as the Provincial Council Chairman, while H.E. Sbong Sarath was appointed as Governor of Preah Sihanouk province.

Addressing the ceremony, H.E Khieu Kanharith, on behalf of the Royal Government of Cambodia, expressed his congratulation to all the first-ever-elected council members, who received the support from their commune counselors in the May 17 election in accordance with democratic principle, and he added that this will further contribute to the enforcement and promotion of the good governance as the core of rectangular strategy.

The inauguration ceremony of a two-story school building in Phnom Penh’s Meanchey distric

Phnom Penh Municipal Governor H.E Kep Chutema and Mr. Jim Thomson, President of Crown Corp Company, cut red ribbon inauguration a two-story school building with 8 classrooms at Sonn Som Kosal Primary School in Phnom Penh’s Meanchey district on June 1.

The building was built by the fund provided by Mr. Jim Thomson and his wife Mrs. Sally Thomson with totaling worth of USD 115, 122.

The destruction ceremony of illegal drug ingredients at Phnom Penh’s Sen Sok district

Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister H.E Ke Kim Yan, Chairman of Cambodian National Authority for Combating Drugs together with Information Minister H.E. Khieu Kanharith and other senior government officials preside over the destruction ceremony of illegal drug ingredients at the Orkas Khngom Drug Rehabilitation Center at Phnom Penh’s Sen Sok district on Jun 2.

There were at least 16 items of illegal drug ingredients with the total of more than three tons were seized by the authorities from Phnom Penh capital city, Kompong Cham and Takeo provinces.

Addressing the ceremony, H.E Ke Kim Yan expressed thanks to Australian police to Cambodia and DEA from USA for their technical and financial assistance and cooperation on this destruction

A press conference refutes to the recent allegation made by U.S. Ambassador

Cambodian Senior Minister H.E. Om Yin Tieng (center), Head of the Royal Government of Cambodia’s Anti-Corruption Unit holds a press conference here on June 2 to refute to the recent allegation made by U.S. Ambassador.

Speaking at the press conference, H.E Om Yin Tieng, vigorously rejected to the groundless allegation made by U.S. Ambassador to Cambodia Mrs. Carol Rodley that it was Cambodia’s corruption causing the loses of 500 million U.S. dollars revenue each year.

Meanwhile, he asked the US diplomat to publicly retract her comment. The US Ambassador made the remarks at the “Clean Hand” concert at the Phnom Penh’s National Stadium on May 30, 2009

Samdech Hun Sen participates the Korean-ASEAN Summit

Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen accompanied by his wife Lok Chumteav Bun Rany Hun Sen and senior government officials shakes hands with senior government officials on May 30, prior to his departure from Phnom Penh International Airport to the Republic of Korea to participate the Korean-ASEAN Summit.

During the visit, three agreements and four MOUs are expected to be signed between Korea and Cambodia.

Moreover, Cambodian Premier Techo Hun Sen will also attend the Executive Directors’ Summit of Korea’s giant companies with ASEAN in order to look for more cooperation on the investment for both regions

The New Phnom Penh Municipal Council Swear-In Ceremony

Cambodian Acting Prime Minister H.E Sar Kheng, Minister of Interior presides over the New Phnom Penh Municipal Council Swear-In Ceremony held in Phnom Penh on May 30.

According to the official results of the National Election Committee, H.E. Map Sarin, deputy governor of the Phnom Penh Municipality was elected as president of the first-ever council.

The 21-member council was selected after the May 17 municipal, district and provincial elections.
