An MOU on Laborer Exchange between Kuwait and Cambodia




Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen on last Friday chairs here a weekly plenary meeting of the council of ministers.

The meeting has approved the draft law on the Ban of Chemical, Nuclear, Biological and Radiation Weapons, an optional protocol to the Convention on the Elimination of all forms of Discrimination against Women, an MOU on Laborer Exchange between Kuwait and Cambodia, and the establishment of Professional Regulatory Authority of Cambodia.

Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen cuts red ribbon while presiding over the inaugurating ceremony of Charek’s irrigation system in Pursat province’s Kandeang district on Mar. 21.

Addressing the ceremony, Cambodian premier told the participants that the government of Cambodia continues to implement its no-tax policy for agricultural land as it was being done since 1979.

He also appealed to the farmers to further boost their rice and other crops’ cultivations

A signing agreement on borrowing of Khmer Ancient Artifacts to the OKADA Cultural Fund of Japan




Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister H.E Sok An, cabinet minister presides over the a signing agreement on borrowing of Khmer Ancient Artifacts to the OKADA Cultural Fund of Japan for the exhibition, which was signed by H.E Prum Sokha, Interior’s Secretary of State, Deputy Chief of Inter-ministry for Coordination, Valuation and Inspection of Khmer Ancient Artifacts with Mr. Takakuya Okada, president of the OKADA Cultural Fund in Phnom Penh on Mar. 20.

This is the second of its kind, that Japan borrows Khmer Ancient Artifacts for its exhibition called “The New Angkor Culture Exhibition” to be displayed for 14-month period from August 2009 in nine deferent locations in Japan.

His Majesty Norodom Sihamoni, King of Cambodia releases varieties of baby fishes at Bati Natural Lake at Koh Khnor village, Prek Rokar commune, Kandal Stung district, Kandal province on Mar. 19 which was organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries.

Samdech Hun Sen warmly receives governor of Qwang Xi province of China



Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen warmly receives a visiting Mr. Ma Biao, governor of Qwang Xi province of the People’s Republic of China in Phnom Penh on Mar. 19.

During the meeting, Mr. Ma Biao told Cambodian premier that his province will continue to make the cooperation with Cambodia on the fields of trade, agriculture, cultures, infrastructures, constructions, import-export and information technology as well as to promote the direct flights between Kulin and Phnom Penh and Siem Reap.

He added that a memorandum of understanding on economic and trade cooperation between Cambodia and Qwang Xi will be inked today.


In reply, Samdech Techo Hun Sen warmly welcomed the precious cooperation between Cambodia and Qwang Xi province and asked both sides to further boost the agricultural products’ export from Cambodia.

H.E. Keat Chhon meets with managing director of World Bank to Cambodia




Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister H.E. Keat Chhon, minister of Economy and Finance meets here on Thursday with Mr. Qimiao Fan, managing director of World Bank to Cambodia.

On the occasion, Mr. Qimiao Fan told Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister Keat Chhon that the Strategic Climate Fund has extended the invitation for Cambodia’s representative to attend the Pilot Program for Climate Resilience (PPCR).

In reply, H.E. Keat Chhon said that the program will provide the most important benefits for Cambodia amid the global financial crisis is being faced.

The closing annual conference of Cambodian Ministry of Information





Cambodian Ministry of Information closed its two-day (March 19-20) annual conference here this afternoon under the presence of its Minister H.E. Khieu Kanharith.

In his keynote closing remarks, H.E. Khieu Kanharith stressed some key points as follows:

1- Regarding the urgent demand for recruiting new staff, the ministry will reduce the number of new staff, but will increase the new information technology instead, at the same time the ministry will urge the provincial and municipal information officials to upgrade their capacities by organizing the internal examination for them aims at increase their salary’s grades.

2- All provincial and municipal information offices have to work more harder so as to boost their daily news and timely report to their provincial and municipal directors as well the ministry.

3- In order to improve the quality of magazine, H.E. Khieu Kanharith urged all provincial and municipal information offices to jointly provide with varieties of news articles and photos to the ministry.

4- He also appealed to all information units as well as provincial and municipal information offices to closely unite together so as to successfully achieve the news services.

Besides, H.E. Minister provided photo cameras to all 24 provincial and municipal offices across the country.

Following the closing ceremony, 96 medals and 78 certificates of congratulations were conferred and handed over to the ministry’s officials for their outstanding works in 2008.
